Jeff Croiter to conduct USITT session sponsored by Chauvet

Tony Award-winner Jeff Croiter will offer a step-by-step tour of the creative process behind theatrical lighting design, when he conducts ‘Start to Finish - The Designer’s Journey’, an educational session sponsored by Chauvet Professional at USITT. Scheduled to run on Thursday March 21 from 2:45 to 4 PM, the session will be held at Room M107 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.

Croiter, whose work on ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’ earned him the 2012 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design, will present a detailed study of the design process from the first read through to opening night. Drawing on his 25 years of experience as a lighting designer, which includes work on the Broadway productions of shows like ‘Newsies’, ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ and ‘Something Rotten!’, he will be sharing his insights into the issues involved in bringing a design to fruition on stage.

Among the topics Croiter will cover are: reading a script to evaluate how lighting can contribute to the unfolding of a story; pre-production collaboration; mastering the technical process; and running a show once you are in the space.
