Keith McMillen presents new audio interface with µPre preamps
Keith McMillen Instruments’ K-Mix is a USB audio interface with transparent µPre preamps for recording in the studio or on the stage. “We went to great lengths in the design of the K-Mix preamplifiers to provide a very flat frequency response up to 40 kHz. One of the primary reasons for doing so is to minimise the amount of phase distortion,” says Keith McMillen Instruments Lead Hardware Engineer Brian Wright.
“We went through many iterations to get to where we are now. The preamps are capable of wide range. Lines in go from -20 to +40 dB - they’ll accept +28 dBu signal - and the mics in will give you +60 dB of clean gain,” the company’s founder and CEO, Keith McMillen, adds. The product provides a quoted THD + Noise rating of -105.12 dBu @ 0 dB gain, 20 Hz-20 kHz (unweighted), and 116.49 dBu @ 0 dB gain, 20 Hz-20 kHz (A-weighted) respectively.
