Embertone releases Recorders

Embertone announces availability of Recorders, an SSATB (Sopranino, Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) quintet of recorders. Five years in the making, Embertone’s Recorders release replaces Ivory Wind, its first foray into wind instrument sampling with an 80-year-old tenor recorder made of real ivory and wood, which was also one of the company’s first ever experiments with true sampled legato.

A set of handmade specimens, scripted by Casey Edwards, capture 4x round robin legato so that users can play realistic trills and repetitive phrases, together with control over vibrato speed and intensity alongside dynamics control and added reverb.

This set of sample-based virtual instruments comprises 6,900-plus recorded samples served up in Native Instruments’ NCW (Native Compressed Wave) format (designed to save an imported .WAV audio file using compression so the file uses less disk space) as a 5.5 GB installation at 44.1 kHz/24-bit stereo sample resolution. It’s the company’s latest virtual instrument for Native Instruments’ Kontakt platform (version 5.3.1 or later).
